Lode claim with surface placer, adjoining a patented mine that produced gold and silver.

old diggings with discovery.  During the late 1800s and early 1900s there was a very rich placer deposit extending from the northeast down and a little past this claim.  I verified the quartz lode deposit and a lode takes the right to the surface placer as well, so you get all of it.  You can still see the old placer workings!  Several areas contain old camp or can dumps.  A lot of history here if you look in addition to the minerals.  Great dirt road access for "normal" vehicles up to the claim boundary, excellent camping on claim.  No water on the claim.  Some of the nicest quartz I have seen from the southern Black Hills area.

Located on the ground, Recorded with County & BLM with BLM serial number.

color codes in aerials:

red, patented private mine

yellow, adjoining claim

GREEN, THIS CLAIM FOR SALE.

Note that this claim is  a full 20.66 acres, 1500 x 600 ft, and overlaps about 3+ acres of private property which is excluded and not part of this claim, so the total claimable ground is about 16 or 17 acres total (see green area).  This was done for establishing any extralateral rights which may exist. You can see the line of diggings made by the old timers!  West of Custer.
