It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to announce the passing of H. Marie Brashear on 12/10/2018, who was well-known and loved by all in Virgin Valley. Marie and her family had been coming to the valley since the 1970s and had numerous claims and a millsite here. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Leah Brashear, of Denio/Virgin Valley (2005). Marie is survived by her grandchildren Richard and Crystal, and now watches over them from above. Marie was also heavily involved in many areas outside of Virgin Valley, including the California Desert Coalition, Water for Wildlife, and most recently the Lucerne Valley Museum. She was busy on so many projects but loved to be working her mining claims. She passed on Monday Dec 10th of cancer. Her goals were to help build a museum for Lucerne Valley as they only have an Open-Air yard, and she wanted to see a true building there to house the collections. Her steadfastness and enthusiasm was strong. Donations can be sent to the Lucerne Valley Museum Association (link in comments below), per her wishes... Please send memories to Crystal Krol. No services have been announced yet.

I feel the need to post this despite differences. When I first met her daughter, Leah Brashear (RIP), Marie gave me permission to stay on her millsite and dig on the family claims in Virgin Valley. I really liked Leah and her family. Unfortunately mining claim disputes caused issues between us. But I feel the need to post this as Marie (and Leah) were great people, and differences should be set aside to remember and celebrate people if it can be done. Marie did alot of good for many Desert causes and activity groups. You will be missed.
