Only one family had this material which was legally dug in the early 1950’s (prior to the 1963 Petrified Wood laws) and hidden away until the 2010’s when the family estate was sold to a collector/dealer. The deposit has been defunct and under a lake after a dam was erected. Probably the most unique and most sought type of Petrified Wood. Reknown lapidary artist Sam Silverhawk compared the look of this wood to old Rattlesnake Howardite.
